Y. Litvar: Hello dear friends. We have a leading Kabbalist Michael Laitman, PhD with us today. Today we start a new topic: "Love, family, motherhood, and children." I pass the microphone to my friend Michael Sanilevich, an instructor at the International Kabbalah Academy.

Que tal queridos amigos.  Tenemos a un Kabalista lider Michael Laitman, PhD con nosotros hoy.  Hoy empezaremos un nuevo topico: “amor, familia, maternidad e hijos” Paso el micrófono a mi amigo Michael Sanilevish, un instructor de la academia internacional de Kabbalah.

What is love?

Que es el amor?

M. Sanilevich: Our first question today is "What is love?"

Nuestra primer pregunta de ho yes “que es el amor?”

M. Laitman: Love is the main quality in the universe. I'd say this is the only positive quality that moves, controls, and connects all of its parts. It unites the elements of all structures: inanimate, vegetative, animate, and finally man's inner world. We call this unifying quality "love" or complete mutual acts of giving. All nature submits to the law of universal love. The only exception is the human level on which we are given a free hand to do whatever we like, and we act in defiance of this law.

El amor es la principal cualidad del universo.  Yo tengo que decir que en la una cualidad positiva que mueve, controla y conecta todas sus partes.  Unifica los elementos de todas las estructuras: inanimada, vegetativa, animada y finalmente el mundo interior del hombre.  Llamamos a esto calidad unificadora amor, o acto completo de dar mutuamente.  Toda la naturaleza se somete a las leyes universales del amor.  La ùnica excepción es el nivel humano en la que se nos ha dado mano libre para hacer lo que querramos y actuamos desafiando esta ley.

If we ask biologists, they will tell us that the law of functioning of any organism, of its existence and development is based on complete integral interaction of its parts. In accordance with this law every cell takes care of the whole body's vital functions and health, sustains its vitality. In other words, it automatically gives the body whatever it needs. It even obeys an order to self-destruct because it has fulfilled its function and used up its resource. Its program switches off, and the cell destroys itself. The general law of existence of a system, organism or organ controls all of its elements.

Si preguntamos a los biologos, nos diràn que la ley del funcionamiento de cada organismo, de su existencia y desarrollo esta basado en una completa interacción integral de sus partes.  En concordancia con esta ley, cada célula toma cuidado de la totalidad de las funciones vitales del cuerpo  y su salud, sosteniendo su vitalidad. En otras palabras, le proporciona al cuerpo lo que sea que necesite.  Incluso obedece una orden de autodestruciòn por haber completado su funciòn y excederse  en recursos.  Su programa se apaga y la celula de auto destruye.  La ley general de existencia de un sistema, organismo u organo controla todos sus elementos.

If we take the general, integral law of nature – the law of unification, homeostasis, then we will see that nature acts only based upon self-preservation, self-sustenance, and self-development up to a certain goal, and it disregards the possibility of existence and development of individual parts. This law of integral interaction, integral interrelation between elements determines the existence of all nature's levels.

Si tomamos en general la ley integral de la naturaleza, la ley de unificación, homeostasis, entonces veremos que la naturaleza actùa solamente basado en su autopreservaciòn, autosustentaciòn y autodesarrollo hasta alcanzar cierto objetivo y descarta la posibilidad de existencia y desarrollo de partes individuales.  Esta ley de interacción integral, interralaciòn integral entre los elementos determina la existencia de todos los niveles de la naturaleza.

However, when, after realizing this we look at man, we discover that he is completely opposite to this law. I do not mean man's existence on the level where our organism functions as an animate body and naturally submits to nature's laws. I mean the human level of our interactions, sensations, thoughts, where our "I" exists – that is where we are complete egoists. We do not want to take the world's integral wholeness and the interaction of its parts into consideration. Today we reveal that the world is a small global village where we all depend on one another. Being a part of nature, with our thoughts, desires and actions, we cause enormous damage to this integration at all levels. Ultimately, this damage returns to us as a negative influence of all nature's parts, and this is what we begin to feel today.

Sin embargo, cuando, después  de concientizar esto, vemos al hombre, descubrimos que esta completamente opuesto a esta ley.  No quiero decir que la existencia del hombre en un nivel en donde nuestro organismo funciona como un cuerpo animado y naturalmente se somete a las leyes de la naturaleza, quiero decir que el humano a nivel de sus interacciones, sensaciones, pensamientos, en donde el “yo” existe – es allí en donde somos completamente egoísta.  No queremos tomar en consideración la totalidad integral y la interacción de sus partes del mundo.  Hoy revelamos que el mundo es un pequeña villa global en donde todos dependemos de otros.  Siendo parte de la naturaleza, con nuestros pensamientos, deseos y acciones, causamos enormes daños a esta integración en todos sus niveles.   Ultimadamente, este daño regresa a nosotros como una influencia negativa de todas las partes de la naturaleza y es lo que estamos empezando a sentir hoy.

The law of absolute love – of universal interdependence, of instinctive, natural, unconscious attention, care, is not realized at the human level. If we regard everyone and everything in accordance with this law, that is to say, if we realize that we all are equal, interconnected, as with one heart, with one soul, and with the same thoughts, then our participation in nature will be correct and integral. Then we will merge with the rest of nature and our attitude to it will be love.

La ley del amor absoluto – de interdependencia universal, de instinto, natural, de atención inconciente,  de cuidado, no se concientiza en el nivel humano.  Si vemos a todos y cada uno de acuerdo con esta ley, es decir,  si nos percatamos que todos somos iguales, interconectados como con un corazón, con una alma y con los mismos pensamientos, entonces nuestra participación en la naturaleza será correcta e integral.  Entonces surgiremos con el resto de la naturaleza y nuestra actitud hacia ella será de amor.

The knowledge of this law enables us to understand that love and hate between us today is absolute egoism, everyone's desire to use others – in sex, in a family, in a society – for his own illusory benefit. Illusory, because in the end man receives no benefit. Everything is based on a simple egoistical calculation. Without understanding the malignancy of his behavior, man only intensifies the crisis.

El conocimiento de esta ley nos habilita a entender que el amor y el odio entre nosotros  hoy es absoluto egoísmo, el deseo de todos de usar a otros – en sexo, en una familia, en una sociedad – para su propio ilusorio beneficio.  Ilusorio porque al final en hombre no recibe ningún beneficio.  Todo esta basado en un simple calculo egoísta.  Sin entender los maligno de su comportamiento, el hombre solamente intensifica su crisis.   

Today, being at the final stage of egoism's development, we see the total collapse of human interrelations. In the past we were connected by some ties, agreements, and conventionalities. In our time only barefaced, shameless egoism shows in its nakedness. This is good, because by seeing our true face we come closer to realizing the problem and finding its solution. Kabbalah reveals to us the way to achieve love. 

Hoy, estando en el último escenario  del desarrollo del  egoísmo, vemos el colapso total de las interrelaciones humanas.  En el pasado estuvimos conectados por algunas ataduras, acuerdos y convencionalismos.  En nuestro tiempo solamente hay  un egoísmo descarado y sinvergüenza en su total desnudez.  Esto es bueno, porque viendo nuestro verdadero rostro nos acercamos a concientizar el problema y a encontrar su solución.  La Kabbalah  nos revela el camino para lograr el amor.

Condition of love

Condiciòn de amor:

M. S.: You say that complete interaction – love – exists at the animate level. However, when a wolf eats up a hare – is this love?

Usted dice que la completa interacción – amor- existe a nivel animal.  Sin embargo, cuando un lobo come una liebre – es esto amor?

M. L.: No. This is a realization of nature's law – the law of constant renewal of life, when the next generation is born on the basis of the previous, past one. This process is similar to the substitution of used-up cells by new ones in our body.

No.  Esto es la practica de la ley de la naturaleza – la ley de la constante renovación de la vida, cuando la siguiente generación nace en base a la previa, pasada.  Este proceso es similar al de la substitución de células usadas por nuevas en nuestros cuerpos.

The same occurs to life cycles: unless we had to die in the previous life, we would not be born in the next. There would be no development that drives us towards something we do not know yet. It seems to us that there is nothing good in this development; nevertheless, it leads to the bright future.

Lo mismo ocurre en los ciclos de la vida: a menos que tengamos que morir a la vida previa, no podremos nacer en la siguiente.  No habría ningún desarrollo que nos condujera hacia algo que no sabemos todavía.  Nos parecería que no hay nada bueno en este desarrollo, sin embargo, nos conduce a un brillante futuro.

Therefore, by eating a hare or a calf, the wolf fulfills nature's law. There is no hatred between them. There is no love either. The law of nature that maintains the correct interaction between species is realized. The involvement of one's "I" is out of the question. Vegetative and animate elements of nature have no "I." It is remarkable how the existence of vegetative and animate organisms or cells in the body is based on the correct interconnection between them.

De allí que comiendo a la liebre o un ternero, el lobo completa la ley de la naturaleza.  No hay odio entre ellos.  Tampoco hay amor.  La ley de la naturaleza que mantiene la correcta interacción entre las especies se realiza.  El involucramiento de unos “Yo” esta fuera de duda.  Los elementos vegetativo y animado de la naturaleza no tiene “yo”.  Es de destacar como la existencia de los organismos vegetativo y animado, o células del cuerpo esta basado en la correcta interconexión entre ellas.

However, man should introduce his desire, his approval of this law of nature, and his intention into this correct interconnection. If he attains this understanding, corrects himself; willingly strives to participate in the integral development and interaction, then he begins to understand nature. He reveals those parts and voids of nature that he does not perceive today – new dimensions, new worlds, where we exist in a totally different way, before birth, after death, as parts of nature in our eternal state.

Sin embargo, el hombre introduce su deseo, su aprobación de esta ley de la naturaleza y su intención dentro de la correcta interconexión.  Si atiende a este entendimiento, se corrige a si mismo, se hace  deseoso de esforzarse por participar en el desarrollo integral e interacción, entonces empieza a entender a la naturaleza.  El revela esas partes y espacios de la naturaleza que no percibe hoy – nuevas dimensiones, nuevos mundos, en donde existimos de un forma totalmente diferente, antes de nacer, después de la muerte, como parte de la naturaleza en nuestro estado eterno.

Kabbalah is called a secret science because it reveals these secret areas of the universe, where we exist yet fail to perceive today due to our opposition to them. Our egoism does not allow us to perceive images that accompany us in a different dimension, yet they are real. Everything depends only on the transition from man's universal hatred (his egoism) to love – only herein is the problem. Our life on the earth, our relationship in the family, between adults and children, would then become simple and harmonious.

A la Kabbalah se le llama la ciencia secreta porque revela aquellas áreas secretas del universo en donde existimos todavía con fallas para percibir hoy por nuestra posición hacia ellas.  Nuestro egoísmo no nos permite percibir imágenes que nos acompañan en una dimensión diferente, aún siendo reales.  Todo depende solamente de la transición del odio universal al hombre (su egoísmo) hacia el amor – Aquí radica el problema.  Nuestra vida en la tierra, nuestras relaciones con la familia, entre adultos y niños, se volverán entonces simples y armoniosas.

It is said in Kabbalah: "A husband and a wife, and the Divine presence between them," – the Upper Light, the Supernal Illumination between them. There cannot be any connection between a husband and his wife who symbolize two absolutely opposite parts of the world, unless the Creator and love that controls the universe are revealed between them. However, to this end we should see how this law acts on a higher level, from which signals of control descend to us, and based on this we should establish relations between us. This must be learned.

Se dice en la Kabbalah: “ Un esposo y una esposa, y la Divina presencia entre ellos” – La luz superior, la iluminación suprema entre ellos.  No puede haber ninguna conexión  entre un esposo y su esposa quienes  simbolizan dos partes absolutamente opuestas del mundo, a menos que el Creador y el amor que controlan el universo sea revelado entre ellos.  Sin embargo, en este punto debemos ver como actúa esta ley en niveles mas altos en los cuales las señales de control descienden a nosotros y basados en esto debemos establecer relaciones entre nosotros.  Esto debe ser aprendido.

Love is a very complicated quality that should be taught. Kabbalah deals only with this. The main rule is "Love thy neighbour as thyself," because by achieving this quality we attain integral inclusion in all the worlds.

El amor es una cualidad muy complicada que debe ser enseñada.  La Kabbalah maneja solamente esto.  La regla principal es “Amar al vecino como a si mismos” porque logrando esta cualidad conseguimos la inclusión integral en todos los mundos.

Y. L.: You have given us a picture of true love from the scientific point of view. Yet simple people who feel inner pain ask this question. They perceive this pain as love. How can one explain to them that this is not love?

Usted nos ha dado una imagen del amor verdadero desde el punto de vista cientìfico.  La gente normal quienes sienten dolor interno preguntan esto.  Ellos perciben este dolor como amor.  Como puede uno explicarles que eso no es amor?

M. L.: This should be learned. We substitute love and lack of love with a quality that is totally opposite to what really exists in nature and is explained in Kabbalah.

Esto debe ser aprendido.  Substituimos al amos y las falta de amor con una cualidad que es totalmente opuesta a lo que realmente existe en la naturaleza y se explica en la Kabbalah.

I call my attitude to something that brings me pleasure "love." I love coffee; therefore I drink it. I feel pleasure when I do this. This means that I love it. In other words, I love the pleasure that is in coffee. This is not the love we are discussing. You use this word for a completely different sensation and attitude to an object.

Yo llamo mi actitud hacia algo que me proporciona placer “amor”.  Amo el café, por lo tanto, lo bebo.  Siento placer cuando hago esto.  Esto significa que lo amo.  En otras palabras, yo amo el placer que hay en el café.  Este no es el amor que estamos discutiendo.  Usted usa esta palabra para una sensación y actitud completamente diferente hacia un objeto.

What does the phrase "I love this woman" mean? I love to use her for myself. I have some needs, empty spaces, desires, hunger, and she fills me, delights me. This is why I love her. So do I love her? Or do I love the pleasure that I receive from her?

Que es lo que la frase “yo amo a esta mujer” significa?  Amo usarla para mi mismo.  Yo tengo algunas necesidades, espacios varios, deseos, hambre y ella las llena, me deleita.  Es por esto que yo la amo.  Entonces la amo a ella? O amo el placer que recibo de ella?

So I love myself. I love her as a source of pleasure, as I love fish or meat. It turns out that there is no love here. We should not call this "love."

Entonces me amo a mi mismo.  La amo a ella como una fuente de placer, así como amo el pescado o la carne. Entonces resulta que aquí no hay amor alguno.  A esto no debemos llamarle “amor”.

Love is not reception of pleasure from somebody; it is giving to the object of love. The phrase "Love thy neighbour" means to fill another with what he desires. It is an external expression of your attitude to him, which is called "love."

El amor no es la recepción del placer de parte de otro,  es darlo al objeto de amor.  La frase “amor al vecino” significa el llenar a otro con lo que él desea.  Es una expresión externa de su actitud hacia él, lo que se llama “amor”.

Love is when you fulfil another. You begin to feel what your beloved wants and by fulfilling him/her you express your attitude to him/her, which is called "love." If you receive, it is called "egoistical reception of pleasure."

Amor es cuando suples a otro.  Empiezas a sentir lo que tus amados quieren y supliendolos a el/ella, expresan tu actitud hacia el/ella, lo que se llama “amor”.  Si tu recibes, se llama “recepción egoísta de placer”.

There is also a way to express love when receiving. When you precisely feel another, his love for you and understand that if you receive from him you will actually please him, then you may use reception for the sake of giving.

También hay una forma de expresar amor cuando se recibe.  Cuando tu precisamente sientes de otro su amor por ti y entiendes que si recibes de él, tu le complacerás, entonces tu puede usar la recepción  por el amor de dar.

Just like a child knowing that his mother wants him to eat some porridge, he eats it and by doing so brings pleasure to his mother. Unless he enjoys the meal, he will not please his mother. He should enjoy her giving, and then she will enjoy his receiving.

Como cuando un niño sabe que su madre quiere que el coma algún potaje.  El lo come y haciéndolo el proporciona placer a su madre.  A menos que el disfrute sus alimentos, no podrá complacer a su madre.  El debe disfrutar el darle a ella y entonces ella disfrutara el que el niño reciba.

This is a very complicated interaction. We see this even on this simple example, let alone such serious systems as husband and a wife, a man and a woman. The interaction between sexes or between groups or parties in the human society is a science in itself. This should be taught from childhood. Otherwise, a person does not grow up and fails to understand the most important thing – how to survive, how to organize the society correctly.

Esta es una interacción muy complicada.  Vemos esto aún en este ejemplo sencillo, dejando aparte el serio sistema como esposo y esposa, un hombre y una mujer.  La interacción entre los sexos o entre grupos o partes en la sociedad humas es una ciencia por si misma.  Esto debe ser enseñado desde la niñez.  De otro modo la persona no crece y falla en entender la cosa más importante – como sobrevivir, como organizar correctamente la sociedad.

There are many theories on this topic. All of them disclaim one another. Adherence to any of them leads us to failure.

Hay muchas teorías sobre este tópico.  Todos ellos descalifican al otro.  Adherirse a cualquier de ellos nos conduce a fallar.

Y. L.: A woman says that she married a man she did not love at all only because he loved her. Did she want to please him? Is this love that you were speaking about?

Una mujer dice que ella se casò con un hombre a quien no amaba para nada, solamente porque el la amaba a ella.  Querìa ella complacerlo a èl?  Es este amor de lo que usted esta hablando?

M. L.: No. What does "he loved her" mean?

No. Que quiere decir “el la amaba a ella”?

Until man passes from hatred to love for another, he will not understand what it means to enter another person's inner world, his feelings and desires, and to accept his desires as his own, while working with his desires in order to fulfil another. When a person regards himself as an instrument for fulfilling the loved one, this is called "love." 

Hasta que el hombre pase del odio al amor por otros, el no entenderà que significa entran al mundo interior de otra persona, sus sentimientos y deseos y aceptar sus deseos como propios, mientras trabaja con sus deseos para cumplir los de otro.  Cuando una persona se refiere a si misma como un instrumento para completar al amado, esto es lo que se llama “amor”.

Did the people whom you mentioned have such a relationship? I don't know. Nevertheless, when we rise from the level of reception to the level of giving, then our relationships (in a family, between children and parents, in a society) change completely. The word "love" has acquired a very vulgar, mean connotation, so let's call this quality "giving." The person possessing this quality begins to feel harmony, sublime union with nature, and attains the sensation of eternity and perfection.

Tienen estas personas mencionada tal relación? Yo no se.  Sin embargo, cuando nos elevamos del nivel de recepción al nivel de dar, entonces nuestra relación (en una familia, entre hijos y padres, en una sociedad) cambia completamente.  La palabra “amor” ha adquirido una connotación muy vulgar, por lo que llamemos a esta cualidad “dar”.  La persona que posee esta cualidad empieza a sentir armonía, una unión sublime con la naturaleza, y obtiene la sensación de eternidad y perfección.

This quality is formed within a person, when he or she rises above his/her small egoistical world. When he/she wishes to remain confined to this small world, we see what this leads to – disillusionment, drugs, divorces, and so on. We are unable to attain these magnificent states within ourselves; this is possible only if we unite with nature as it shows us.

Esta cualidad es formada dentro de una persona, cuando el o ella se eleva sobre su pequeño mundo egoísta.  Cuando el/ella  desea mantenerse confinado a su pequeño mundo, vemos a lo que conducirá – desilusión, drogas, divorcio y todo lo demás.  Somos incapaces de obtener ese estado magnifico dentro de nosotros mismos; esto es posible solamente si nos unimos con la naturaleza según nos muestra.

M. S.: Can a person check whether he loves or not?

Puede una persona chequear si ama o no?

M. L.: In our world we merely start discovering that we are absolute egoists, that we do not love, but only try to agree among ourselves, because until our egoism explodes from within and breaks these relations, these fragile agreements, there is no other way. We forget, quarrel and make peace, we are tied by mutual children, we exist as partners sharing the same apartment; but this is not love!

En nuestro mundo inicialmente empezamos descubriendo que somos absolutamente egoístas, que no amamos, solamente tratamos de llegar a un acuerdo entre nosotros porque hasta que nuestros egoísmo explote del interior y quiebre esas relaciones, esos frágiles acuerdos, no hay otra forma.  Olvidamos los pleitos y hacemos la paz, estamos atados por hijos mutuos, existimos como socios compartiendo el mismo apartamento, pero esto no es amor!

In Kabbalah love has a very capacious scientific definition. Speaking briefly and approximately, it is when a person can feel someone else's inner world, his desires, needs, and serves to fulfill him. The sensation that he feels while fulfilling another, is called "love." At the same time, he himself feels delighted.

El amor en la Kabbalah tiene una definición científica amplia. Hablando en pocas palabras y aproximadamente, es cuando una persona puede sentir el mundo interior de alguien mas, sus deseos, necesidades y le sirve para llenarlas.  La sensación que siente mientras suple a otro, es llamado “amor”. Al mismo tiempo, el mismo se siente complacido.

We return to the formula: "A husband and a wife, and the Creator between them." The Creator is nature's general force of giving, general force of love. If a husband and a wife start cultivating a relationship of absolute giving, this connection is born, this triple union is formed between them. The existence of an elementary human unit is impossible without the quality of giving.   

Regresamos a la formula “Un esposo y una esposa, y el Creador entre ellos”.  El Creador es la fuerza general de la naturaleza de dar, la fuerza general del amor.  Si un esposo y una esposa empiezan cultivando una relación de absoluto otorgamiento, esta conexión nace, esta triple unión se forma entre ellos.  La existencia de la unidad humana elemental es imposible sin la calidad de dar.

Therefore, only a person who rises to the level of mutual giving by working on him/herself can be a true husband and wife. This is a very difficult correction that man has to go through. Kabbalah teaches how to do that.

De allí que, solamente una persona que se eleva al nivel de dar mutuamente trabajando en si mismo, puede ser un verdadero esposo y una verdadera esposa.  Esta es una difícil corrección por la que un hombre tiene que atravesar.  La Kabbalah enseña como hacerlo.

It is very difficult. But the suffering of spiritual emptiness, of ruined family relations, between children and parents, in a society, will lead to the situation when people will be ready to spare no effort in order to attain this quality. They will subconsciously, instinctively begin to understand that this ideal exists, that it is distant, but it has to be achieved. In the depth of their fall they will start feeling the possibility of an ascent and they will be bound to do this. So I am an optimist – love will come!

Es muy difìcil.  Pero el sufrimiento espiritual de vacío, de relaciones familiares arruinadas, entre hijos y padres, en una sociedad, conducirá a la situación cuando la gente este lista para no escatimar ningún esfuerzo para  obtener esta cualidad.  Ellos subconscientemente, instintivamente empiezan a entender que existe el ideal, que està distante, pero que tiene que ser logrado.  En lo profundo de su caida, ellos empezaran a sentir la posibilidad  de un ascensión y ellos estarán obligados a hacerlo.  Yo soy un optimista – el amor vendrá!

Y. L.: This question was asked by a girl from Sochi: There are no men left who are ready to jump off a bridge for the sake of the beloved. Why isn't anyone attracted by romance?

Este asunto fue preguntado por un chica de Sochi: No queda ningún hombre que este listo para saltar del puente en nombre del amado.   Porque no hay nadie a quien le atraiga el romance?

M. L.: This was possible once, because men thought they deserved the kindness of not so intelligent female egoists and did not know where this would lead. This was caused by the sensation of the insignificance of one's "I," by insufficient development of the person's inner world. Why should he look big in someone's eyes this way? He should not.

Esto fue posible solo una vez porque los hombres piensan que merecen la amabilidad de una no muy inteligente y egoísta fémina y no se a donde conduciría esto.  Esto fue causado por la sensación de la insignificancia de algunos “yo” por  un desarrollo insuficiente del mundo interior de esa persona.  Porque debe buscar grandeza en los ojos de alguien de esta forma?  No debe hacerlo.

A man should wonder whether he is in line with a special standard – eternal and perfect, but not how nice he looks in the eyes of others, and not how he complies with someone's momentary egoistical desires. It is a shame to waste oneself, one's life on this. Therefore jumping off a bridge so that some blonde would sigh and roll up her eyes is utterly senseless. This is a mere exchange: a jump off a bridge for a certain pleasure. What does it have to do with love? Do not confuse this cruel egoistical relationship between people with the sensation of giving, when you feel another person's inner world and wish to fulfill it.

Un hombre debe preguntarse si està en linea con el estándar especial – eterno y perfecto, pero no que tan bien luce a los ojos de otros, oy no como el cumple con los deseos egoístas comentarios de alguien.  Es una vergüenza desperdiciarse a si mismo en una vida asì.  De alli que saltar de un puente para que una rubia vea y vuelva sus ojos es absolutamente sin sentido.  Esto es un mero intercambio: saltar de un puente por un cierto placer.  Que tiene que ver esto con amor?  No confunda esta relaciòn egoísta cruel entre la gente con la sensación de dar, cuando usted siente el mundo interior de esa persona y desea satisfacerlo.

Y. L.: A man asks this question: What is jealousy from the point of view of Kabbalah? Does this feeling have a spiritual explanation? 

Un hombre hizo esta pregunta: que son los celos desde el punto de vista de la Kabbalah?  Tiene este sentimiento una explicación espiritual?

M. L.: Jealousy in our world, where there is no love, but only animal relations, is when a person perceives another as an owner looks at his property: "this is mine." However, if this property has to legs and it handles itself, this is already bad. In the past a band of virginity could be used, a girl could be locked up, but this cannot be done in our time of female emancipation. So jealousy is all that is left. Men eat their hearts, but then they decide that there is no point in suffering: if not this woman, I'll have another, and life will be simpler. A family gets ruined because it is not based on the elementary rules of a relationship. People are unable to rise above the animate level of consumption.

Los celos en nuestro mundo, en donde no hay amor, solamente en relaciones animales, es cuando una persona percibe a otra como un dueño que mira a su propiedad “esto es mío”.  Sin embargo, si la propiedad tiene piernas y se maneja a sí mismo, esto ya es malo.  En el pasado se podían usar cinturones de castidad, una joven podía ser enllavada, pero esto no se puede hacer en nuestro tiempo de emancipación femenina.  Así es que celos es todo lo que queda.  Los hombres se comen su corazón, pero entonces ellos deciden que no hay motivo para sufrir si no es esta mujer, tendré otra y la vida se simplifica.  Una familia puede ser arruinada porque no está basada en las reglas elementales de una relación.  La gente es incapaz  de levantarse sobre el nivel animado de consumo.

Y. L.: So how about the feelings, emotions within us, the sensations of pain and joy – something that we call love…?

Entonces, que sobre los sentimientos, emociones dentro de nosotros, las sensaciones de dolor y alegrìa – algo que llamamos amor?

M. L.:  All of this can be explained by biologists, geneticists, and botanists.

Todo esto puede ser explicado por biólogos, genetistas y botánicos.

Y. L.: About pistils and stamens?

M. L.:   Yes. Plants, insects, and people – all function under the influence of hormones. These are inner biological processes, and we should not pass them off as love.

Si, Plantas, insectos y gente – todos funcionan bajo la influencia de las hormonas.  Estos son procesos internos biológicos y no debemos confundirlos como amor.

The problem is that man is not sufficiently developed in order to understand that his inner world is a world of pleasure! If he enjoys a beautiful picture, music, a woman, a child, a soup – it is all the same! If he receives pleasure while being as he was born and brought up, then this is called egoistical enjoyment.

El problema es que el hombre no es suficientemente desarrollado para entender que su mundo interior es un mundo de placer.  Si el disfruta de una pintura bella, la música, una mujer, un niño, una sopa, todo es lo mismo!  Si el recibe placer como cuando nació y surgió, entonces esto es llamado disfrute egoísta.

Love is based on giving, on transcending oneself; whereas the processes occurring within us are purely animate. For some reason, we pass some of them off as unreal feelings and demand the same from others. What kind of love is this? You will receive an injection of hormones and you will treat the object of your love in a totally different way. This is pure chemistry.

El amos está basado en dar, en trascender de uno mismo, en donde sea que el proceso ocurra dentro de nosotros son animados puros.  Por alguna razón, confundimos algunos de ellos con sentimientos irreales y demandamos lo mismo de otros.  Que clase de amor es este? Usted recibirá una inyección de hormonas y  tratará los objetos de su amor de una forma totalmente diferente.  Esto es pura química.

Y. L.: Is there a measuring unit for love?

Hay una unidad de medida para el amor?

M. L.:  A measuring unit for love is a measuring unit of self-sacrifice, of giving with the purpose of fulfilling the beloved. Love is based on mutual anti-egoistical concessions and it appears when two people realize their animate nature and start working on themselves to rise above it. Such a spiritual couple cultivates a relationship that is above our animate desires, attractions and repulsions, habits, attitude towards the world and creates a union on this basis. This union is built only on mutual concessions in order to create something common, where we would be virtually merged. 

La unidad de medida para el amor es una medida de autosacrificio, de dar con el propósito de satisfacer al amado.  El amor esta basado en una mutua concesión anti-egoísta y aparece cuando dos personas concientizan su naturaleza animada y empiezan a trabajar en si mismos para alzarse sobre eso.  Tal como las parejas espirituales cultivan una relacion que esta sobre nuestros deseos animados, atracciones y repulsiones, habitos, actitudes hacia el mundo y crea una uniòn en esta base.  Esta uniòn esta construida solamente en mutuas concesiones para crear algo comùn  de donde virtualmente nos fusionamos.

The volume that we create is called unification of a male and a female part into single whole. We have a need for this – to achieve merging of souls through merging of bodies. But this is possible only if there is a spiritual couple that understands how it should work to create this union. It is based on mutual concessions, on the acquisition of a reciprocal altruistic attraction, when each lives inside the other and fulfills the other.

El volumen que creamos se llama unificación de una parte macho y hembra en un solo todo.  Tenemos una necesidad para esto – El lograr la fusión de la almas a través de la fusión de los cuerpos.  Pero esto sucede solamente si hay una pareja espiritual que entiende como debiera trabajar para crear esta unión.  Esta basado en concesiones mutual, en la adquisición de una atracción recíproca altruista, cuando cada uno vive y complementa al otro.

The crisis that starts today will force us all to achieve this in our relations, between men and women as well as among people on the whole. We are advancing towards this. This is not a fairy-tale; suffering will make us do that.

La crisis que empieza hoy nos forzará a lograr esto en nuestra relación, entre hombre y mujer asì como también dentro de la gente en un todo.  Estamos avanzando hacia esto.  Esto no es un cuento de hadas; el sufrimiento nos  hará hacerlo.

Love means giving yourself to others

Amor significa dares a si mismo a otros

M. S.: The main biblical law is "Love thy neighbour as thyself." What does "as thyself" mean? Do I have to love myself first?

La ley bíblica principal es “amar a tu prójimo como a ti mismo”  Que significa a ti mismo? Tengo que amarme a mi primero?

M. L.:  You should find out how you love yourself and to this extent establish your attitude towards thy neighbour. This is called "concession", because by disregarding yourself you start pleasing, satisfying, fulfilling others. This aspiration to fulfil others that you develop within you is called love for them. A relationship of this kind, a mutual aspiration in the society will lead to eternal, happy life.

Tú debes encontrar como te amas a ti mismo y en esa medida establecer tu actitud hacia tu prójimo.  Esto es llamado “concesión” porque al despreocuparte de ti mismo empiezas a agradar, satisfacer y llenar a otros.  Esta aspiración de completar a otros que desarrollas dentro de ti es llamada amor por ellos. Una relación de esta clase, una aspiración mutua en la sociedad, conducirá a una eterna vida feliz.

M. S.: But does man have to love himself?

Pero tiene el hombre que amarse a si mismo? 

M. L.: Man has to love himself for being able to merge integrally with all and fulfil all, and then he becomes equal to the Creator – the Supreme force of nature.

El hombre debe amarse  a si mismo para ser capaz de fusionarse íntegramente con todo y completar todo, entonces se hace igual al Creador – La fuerza Suprema de la naturaleza

Y. L.: Doesn't it turn out to be "love as thyself" instead of" love thyself"?

No debira volverse “amar como a si mismo, en vez de amarse a mi mismo?

M. L.: No, because in reality we exist not in ourselves, but in others.

No, porque en realidad existimos no en nosotros mismos, sino en otros

Y. L.: In this way, the more I love people the more pleasure I start receiving?

De esta manera, entre mas yo amo a la gente  mas placer empiezo a recibir?

M. L.: Correct. When I transcend myself, I start revealing my true "I," not the little ugly egoistical man, but my "I" that really exists beyond me. I see myself as a projection of all nature, of the entire universe. And this is "I", if such is my attitude to everything.

Correcto.  Cuando yo trasciendo de mi mismo, yo empiezo a revelar mi verdad “yo” no el feo hombrecito egoísta, sino mi “yo” que realmente existe más allá de mí.  Yo me veo a mi mismo como una proyección de toda la naturaleza, del universo entero.  Y este es el “yo” si esta es mi actitud hacia todo.

Y. L.: That is to say, will I begin to feel all sensations existing beyond me - in other people, in animals, in nature?

Esto quiere decir  que yo empezaré a sentir todas las sensaciones existiendo mas allá de mi – en otra gente, en animales, en  la naturaleza?

M. L.: This is "I." This is mine! In other words, when a person builds such an attitude to the world above himself, he realizes why he was created an egoist – in order to transcend himself, give himself to others and reveal himself in this.

Esto es “yo”. Esto es mío!  En otras palabras, cuando una persona construye tal actitud hacia el mundo arriba de él, se da cuenta porque el fue creado como egoísta – Para trascenderse a si mismo, darse a si mismo a otros y revelarse el mismo en ellos.

By realizing this correctly and sincerely man will feel that he exists as eternally and perfectly as all nature. This is a general integral law of nature, and we will achieve this state anyway, if not in this life, then in the next one.

Al concientizar esto correcta y sinceramente el hombre sentirá que existe tan eternal y perfectamente como toda la naturaleza.  Esta es en general la ley integral de la naturaleza y lograremos este estado de cualquier forma, si no en esta vida, entonces en la próxima.

Y. L.: Is this love?

Es esto amor?

M. L.: This is the sensation of absolute love that should be realized in nature's most sublime and most corrupt element - man.

Esta es la sensación de amor absoluto que debe ser concientizado en el elemento más sublimes y más corrupto de la naturaleza – el hombre

This is where man's freedom of will lies – to realize this need as quickly as possible and see it fulfilled not under the press of the developing crisis, but of his own free will. Our main task now is a circulation of knowledge about the causes of the problems that befall us, manifest within us today.

Esto es en donde la libertad del hombre de desear, descansa – al concientizar esta necesidad tan pronto como sea posible y  ver que llena, no bajo la presión de la crisis en desarrollo, sino por su propia voluntad libre.  Nuestra principal tarea es la circulación del conocimiento sobre las causas de los problemas que nos acontecen, manifiestos dentro de nosotros hoy. 

M. S.: Didn't anyone in the world but Kabbalists taste true love? Will the day come when all of humanity will come to know love?

Nadie en el mundo, sino solo los kabbalista gozan del verdadero amor?  Vendrà el dìa cuando toda la humanidad conozca el amor?

M. L.: Such a day will come; this should happen within a few decades from now. I hope to see the final stage of this process, the realization of the goal still in my lifetime.

Ese día vendrá, y deberá suceder dentro de unas pocas décadas desde ahora.  Yo espero ver el estadío final de este proceso, la realización de la meta, todavía en mi tiempo de vida.

A Kabbalist is a person who correctly interprets the laws of reception (the word "Kabbalah" derives from the verb "to receive"), connections, communication, everything that occurs in nature between all of its parts. He gets knowledge from the world that is concealed from us, the world of altruism and bestowal (not the world of egoism and reception that we perceive) and acts in accordance with this knowledge.

Un Kabalista es una persona que interpreta correctamente las leyes de recepción ( la palabra Kabbalah proviene del verbo “recibir”) conexiones, comunicaciones, todo lo que ocurre en la naturaleza  entre todas sus partes .  El obtiene conocimiento del mundo que es encubierto de nosotros, el mundo del altruismo y concesión (no del mundo del egoísmo y recepción que nosotros percibimos) y actúa de acuerdo con este conocimiento.

Naturally, the people who have received this knowledge and can apply it in practice and attain a true sensation of love, eternity, and perfection. They enter into a different volume of the universe, into its different aspect, where love is felt as eternally existing.

Naturalmente, la gente que ha recibido este conocimiento y puede aplicarlo a la práctica y obtener una sensación verdadera de amor, eternidad y perfección.  Ellos entran dentro de un volumen diferente del universo, dentro de sus diferentes aspectos

Modern science is also searching for a different dimension, where the universe functions not the way our egoistical sense organs perceive. The revelation is at hand – Kabbalah helps us to speed up this realization.

La ciencia moderna esta también buscando dimensiones diferentes, en donde el universo funciona no del modo egoísta que nuestros órganos sensoriales perciben.  La revelación esta a la mano – La kabala nos ayuda a acelerar este logro.

How can one learn to love?

Como puede uno aprender a amar?

M. S.: But how can one learn to love? As in school, from text-books?

Pero como puede uno aprender a amar?  Como en una escuela, de un libro de texto?

M. L.: Learning love does not mean studying Kama Sutra.

Aprender amor no significa estudiar el Kama Sutra

Learning love means learning correct interconnection with the one you love; and this does not necessarily have to be someone of the opposite sex. One should learn to enter the inner world of another and fulfil it with himself in the same way as cells act in our animate body. Each cell takes care of the existence of the whole organism and acts according to the program that is common for all cells. It does not consume for its own sake, but works in order to give to all the other cells and organs. This ensures the life of the body and the correct relation between all of its parts.

Aprender del amor significa aprender la correcta interconexión con el que ama, y en eso no necesariamente tiene que ser alguien del sexo opuesto.  Uno debe aprender a entrar al mundo interior de otro y complementarlo consigo mismo de la misma manera como las células actúan en un cuerpo animado.  Cada célula cuida de la existencia del organismo completo y actúa de acuerdo al programa que es común para todas las células. No consume por su propio bien, sino que trabaja para dar a todas las otras células y órganos.  Esto asegura la vida del cuerpo y la correcta relación entre todas sus partes.  

Illnesses constitute a breach of interaction between cells and organs. Imagine how ill our society is? This organism is affected by a dreadful cancerous growth, when instead of giving the cell begins to devour surrounding cells and exist at their expense. As a result the environment collapses and the cell dies. This is cancer.

Las enfermedades constituyen una brecha de interacción entre las células y los órganos. Imaginen cuan enferma está nuestra sociedad.  Este organismo esta afectado por un terrible crecimiento canceroso, cuando en vez de que las células den, esta devorando el derredor de las células y vive a sus expensas.    Como resultado el ambiente colapsa y las células mueren.  Esto es Cáncer.

Why is this disease so widespread in our time? We have become such egoists that this manifests at other levels of nature: animate and vegetative. There is no getting away from this. The source of our problems and even diseases lies within us, at the human level. Man determines the entire imbalance of nature.

Porque esta enfermedad esta tan desplegada en nuestro tiempo?   Nos hemos vuelto tan egoísta que esto se manifiesta a otros niveles de la naturaleza: animado y vegetativo.  No hay manera de huir de eso.   La fuente de nuestros problemas y aún de las enfermedades radica dentro de nosotros, al nivel humano.  El hombre determina la falta de balance entero en la naturaleza.

And today it is our duty to realize the principal law of nature – the law of love – in its full measure. This depends solely on man, on our inner effort at the level where our "I" exists, where I am called "man."

Y hoy es nuestro deber concientizar la principal ley de la naturaleza – la ley del amor – en su medida completa.  Esto depende solamente del hombre, en nuestro esfuerzo interior en el nivel en donde nuestro “yo” existe, en donde soy llamado “hombre”.

M. S.: How does one learn to love?

Como aprende uno a amar?

M. L.: Open the book and study the method. Otherwise you will act based on your animate properties received at birth and the values imposed on you by the society, because you have nothing else in you. First, you have to receive the correct instruction; otherwise you will keep making mistakes. Kabbalah is such an instruction.

Abra el libro  y estudie el método.  De otra forma usted actuará en base a sus propiedades animadas recibidas al nacer y los valores impuestos sobre usted por la sociedad, porque usted no tiene nada mas en usted.  Primero tiene que recibir la instrucción correcta, de otro modo se mantendrá cometiendo errores.  La Kabala, es tal instrucción.

For practical exercises Kabbalists form groups. Indeed, many methods are based on group exercises. There is no other way. Here, as in any other matter, you need a teacher, a group, and an instruction which you try to realize with like-minded people.

Para un ejercicio práctico, los cabalistas forman grupos.  De hecho muchos métodos están basados en ejercicios de grupo.  No hay otra manera.  Aquí, como en otros asunto, usted necesita un maestro, un grupo y una instrucción que debe concientizar con gente que piense como usted.

Y. L.: On the contrary. You made me reflect.

Who invented marriage?

Quien inventò el matrimonio?

Y. L.: A question about a family: Did people invent marriage and family? Or was it God who created the institution of marriage?

Una pregunta sobre la familia:  La gente inventò el matrimonio y la familia? O fue Dios quien creó la institución del matrimonio?

M. L.: Knowing people and the animal world to which we are similar in this respect, we see that the institution of marriage was not artificially created by man, but appeared based on our natural qualities at the lowest, animate, hormonal level. We observe the likeness of marriage in the animal world, when coupling occurs for reproduction.

Conociendo a la gente y al mundo animal al cual somos similares a este respecto, vemos que la institución del matrimonio no fue creado artificialmente por el hombre pero surge basado en nuestras cualidades naturales mas bajas, animadas, a nivel hormonal.  Observamos una semejanza al matrimonio en el mundo animal, cuando las ocurre que hacen parejas para la reproducción.

Kabbalah reveals the reasons for this – why the elements that interact based on the principle of attraction of opposites (plus and minus, electron and positron) were created exactly this way? Why do molecules and atoms merge, and why two separate opposites have to merge in order to create, give birth to something new?

La cabala revela la razón para esto – porque los elementos que interactúan basados en el principio de atracción de opuesto (mas o menos, electrón y positrón) fueron creado exactamente de esta forma?  Porque se fusionan los átomos y las moléculas y porque dos opuesto separado tienen que fusionarse para crear, dar nacimiento a algo nuevo?

At the primitive level there are forms when they are not separated and male and female parts exist in one body, merged and participate in the continuation of life together. Yet already at the animate level male and female parts confront a problem of a union for the creation of a new life. The level of superior animals and man is based on interaction.

En el nivel primitivo hay formas en donde ellos no están separados y las partes macho y hembra existen en un cuerpo, fusionados y participan en la continuación de la vida juntos.  Con todo ya, a un nivel animado, las partes macho y hembra confrontan un problema de una unión para la creación de una nueva vida.  El nivel de animales superiores y hombres esta basado en la interacción.

Why is this arranged so in nature? Because nature strives to elevate man to such level of development, when he would consciously participate in this process, realize, appreciate, and attain its cosmic, universal scale, and approve of it. At the same time man rises to nature's highest level, which constitutes the purpose of existence of the universe, including our world.

Porque esto esta arreglado así en la naturaleza?  Porque la naturaleza se esfuerza en elevar al hombre a tal nivel de desarrollo en donde él concientemente participaría de este proceso, concientizando, apreciando y obteniendo su escala cósmica universal y apruebe de él. Al mismo tiempo, el hombre eleva a la naturaleza a su nivel mas alto que constituye el propósito de la existencia del universo, incluyendo nuestro mundo.

Maturity takes one third of man's life. Therefore marriage - unification between male and female parts that created it – should be long and perfect in order to pass all the essential information accumulated by parents to a child.

La madurez toma una tercera parte de la vida del hombre.  De allí que el matrimonio – unificación entre las partes macho y hembra creados – debe ser larga y perfecta para pasar toda la información acumulada por los padres a los hijos.

Man should be brought up, fulfilled. He is born absolutely empty and insignificant, unlike an animal that adapts itself to the environment during the first days of its life. A human child should be constantly guarded, educated, nursed, cherished, and filled with enormous volume of information, so that it would become fit to exist in this world. This is why the institution of marriage exists; a need for it is incorporated in our nature. Nature evokes in us love for children; otherwise we wouldn't have formed couples and given them a chance to exist.

El hombre debe ser  elevado, satisfecho.  El ha nacido absolutamente vacío e insignificante, ni siquiera como una animal que se adapta por si mismo a su ambiente durante el primer día de su vida. Un niño humano debe ser constantemente custodiado, educado, alimentado, acariciado y llenado con un enorme volumen de información para que pueda adaptarse a existir en este mundo.  Esto es porque existe la institución del matrimonio, una necesidad por ser incorporado a nuestra naturaleza.  La naturaleza evoca en nosotros el amor por lo niños, de otro modo no habríamos formado parejas ni les habríamos dado la oportunidad de existir.

Y. L.: So this institution was not created for mom and dad (husband and wife), but exclusively for reproduction, that is for children?

Entonces esta institución no fue creada para mama y papa (esposo y esposa) exclusivamente para la reproducción, sino para los hijos?

What is the purpose of a family?

Cual es el propósito de la familia?

M. L.: For giving! For transferring, dissemination, and stepping out of oneself.

Para dar, para transferir, diseminar y para caminar por si mismos.

Y. L.: This means that my discontent about family problems, deficit of love and pleasure is caused by the fact that everything occurs in contradiction to giving, and failing to understand that marriage is created for a child, and that everyone seeks his own pleasure in it? 

Esto quiere decir que mi descontenco sobre los problemas familiars, deficiencia de amor y placer estan causados por el hecho que todo ocurre en contradicción al dar y al fallar en entender que el matrimonio esta creado para los hijos y que cada uno busca su propio placer en el?

M. L.: Correct. Parents among some  animal species either die after they produce offspring or become completely emaciated in order to give life to its offspring, feed, and raise it.

Correcto.  Los padres entre algunas especies animales  mueren después que producen descendientes o  se desviven para darles vida a sus descendientes, alimentarlos y criarlos.

We should learn this, because it is absent in us. We try to fill this gap at our level with the help of technology. A great number of people work to help a woman with a natural process of childbirth, breastfeeding, and infant development. Look how many aids and appliances surround little children. However, this does not make up for our basic mistake – our attitude to it.

Debemos aprender esto, porque esta ausente en nosotros.  Tratamos de llenar este objetivo a nuestro nivel con la ayuda de la tecnología.  Un gran numero de personas trabajan para ayudar a una mujer en el proceso natural del nacimiento de un hijo, el darle de mamar, y sobre el desarrollo del infante. Mire cuántas ayudas y aplicaciones rodean a los pequeños niños. Sin embargo, esto no compensa nuestro error básico - nuestra actitud respecto a él.

 In our time people in developed countries do not want to have children.  They seek egoistical fulfillment, and the sensation of freedom. One room is no longer enough; a person wants an apartment with several rooms to be totally separated from everybody and everything. Joining my life with another person, living in the same apartment, giving birth to children, raising them, thinking about them day and night… what for? What pleasure will a family give me? This attitude is a result of development of serious egoism in man.

En nuestro tiempo las personas en los países  desarrollados ya no quieren tener hijos.  Ellos buscan satisfacción egoísta y la sensación de libertad.  Una habitación ya no es suficientemente grande, una persona quiere un apartamento con varias habitaciones para estar totalmente separados de todos y todo.  Unir mi vida con la de alguien, vivir en el mismo apartamento, dando a luz hijos, criándolos, pensando en ellos día y noche, para que?  Que placer va a darme a mi la familia?  Esta actitud es el resultado del desarrollo del serio egoísmo en el hombre.

Only by revealing the Upper world, his next state, and the goal of creation, man will be able to see the future – what awaits him if he behaves this way. The vision of the future will sober him up. By clearly feeling the future as the present he will see what happens to him, and out of his egoistical motives he will want to change his life. Only Kabbalah, which reveals the secret world, can give man vision that will force him to change by outbalancing his egoism.

Solamente revelando el mundo superior, su siguiente estado, y las metas de la creación, el hombre será capaz de ver el futuro – Lo que le espera  si se comporta de esta forma.  La visión del futuro le serenará.  Por la clara sensación del futuro como el presente. Verá lo que le pasa y fuera de sus motivos egoístas querrá cambiar su vida. Solamente la cabala, que revela el mundo secreto, puede dar al hombre la visión que le forzará a cambiar a través del auto balance de su egoísmo.

M. S.: Does man need a family in order to learn to take care of another?

Necesita el hombre una familia para aprender a cuidar de otros?

M. L.: This is the sole purpose of its existence. We were created with the desire to give birth, raise, and bring up to give to other elements of nature.

Nature endows us with instinctive, animate love so that we would give against our will, get used to it, and gradually reach other levels of giving.

La naturaleza nos ha dotado con un instintivo amor animado que daríamos contra nuestro deseo, nos acostumbraríamos  y gradualmente alcanzaría  otros niveles de dar.

Y. L.: It turns out that the Supreme Force created a false sensation in man  of love and attraction to another as a mere bait; so that he will give birth and raise a new man?

Entonces resulta que la Fuerza Suprema creó una falsa sensación en el hombre de amor y atracción hacia otros como un mero anzuelo, para que de a luz y críe a un hombre nuevo?

M. L.: Man's purpose is not to give birth to a little egoist like himself and aimlessly raise him. He has to realize that the ultimate goal is the attainment of the highest level of nature – the quality of giving and love. Hence, both a man and a woman were created with a need for each other and children to understand, feel, learn this quality from nature at the primitive, animate level and raise it to the human level. This is the reason why we were created as separately existing male and female elements, and by forming a union create the next generation. This is where the need in the institution of marriage lies.

El propósito del hombre no es dar a luz a pequeños egoístas como el mismo y criarles sin objetivo.  El debe concientizar que la meta última es la obtención de un nivel más alto de la naturaleza – la calidad de dar y amar.  A partir de aquí, ambos, un hombre y una mujer fueron creados con la necesidad del uno por el otro y de hijos que entender, sentir, aprender esta cualidad de la naturaleza en el nivel animado primitivo  y elevarlo al nivel humano.   Esta es la razón porque fuimos creado como elementos existentes separados, macho y hembra, y formando una unión crea la siguiente generación.  Esto es en donde la necesidad de la institución del matrimonio estriba.

M. S.: Why then is it not enough for me to learn to love my children and wife? Why should I love others, these billions of people?

Porque entonces no es suficiente para mi aprender a amar a mis hijos y esposa?  Porque yo debo amar a otros, esos billones de gente?

M. L.: Human organism consists of many opposite, mutually balancing systems: heartbeat, blood vessel distention, compensational contraction, and so on. Everything is based on a seeming contradiction, on mutual balance.

El organismo humano consiste en mucho opuestos, sistemas mutuamente balanceados. Pulsaciones, distensión de vasos sanguíneos, contracción compensatoria etc.  Todo esta basado en aparentes contradicciones, en balance mutuo.

Similarly, between people there are many systems of freeing oneself from egoism. Our egoism is a multi-layer system, and it has to prove itself as a giver on many levels, from a purely instinctive, animate level, up to the highest layers. Therefore, all possible connections should be used here.

Similarmente, entre las personas hay muchos sistemas de liberarse a uno mismo del egoísmo.  Nuestro egoísmo es un sistema de múltiples casas y debe de ser probado a si mismo como dador, en muchos niveles, del puro instinto, nivel animado, hasta la capa más alta.  Entonces toda posible conexión debe ser usada aquí.

The Kabbalist works on it in a group of like-minded men. The birth of a "spiritual child" in the group constitutes the connection among them, their common desire to rise above themselves. When dozens of men create a mutual relationship of love, they create a collective aspiration to ascend, which is called their creation. They give birth, while regarding their egoism as a female part and their aspiration to the spiritual as a male part.

El trabajo de los cabalistas es en grupo con hombres que piensen igual.  El nacimiento del “hijo espiritual” en el grupo constituye la conexión entre ellos, su deseo común de elevarse sobre ellos mismos.  Cuando docenas de hombres crean una relación mutua de amor, ellos crean una aspiración colectiva de ascender que se llama su creación.  Ellos dan nacimiento,  mientras relacionen su egoísmo como la parte femenina y su aspiración a lo espiritual como parte masculina.

But this is the next stage in the interaction between the male and female parts in our inner world. This is a practical realization of Kabbalists' advice.

M. S.: Who should dominate in a family?

Quien debiera dominar en una familia?

M. L.: What we call the Creator should dominate – the quality of giving, to attain that which we unite with each other. The main thing should be the ideal – mutual giving, a derivative of two partners, the third force. It should determine all actions and relationship in the family. Egoism then disappears; we easily make concessions to one another to attain this quality; we begin to love one another and endlessly enjoy one another. Our feelings, mutual relations expand, and together we rise towards this common ideal.

Lo que nosotros llamamos Creados debe dominar – la calidad de dar, de obtener lo que nos une con otros.  La cosa principal debiera ser el ideal – mutuo otorgamiento, un derivado de dos socios, la tercera parte.  Debería determinar todas las acciones y relaciones en la familia.  El egoísmo entonces desaparecería, haríamos fáciles concesiones de uno a otro para obtener esta calidad, empezaríamos a amar uno al otro y al final el disfrutar uno de otro.  Nuestros sentimientos, relaciones mutuas, se expanden y juntos nos elevaríamos hacia un idea común.

M. S.: This resembles a situation when a person could sacrifice his life for his country, i.e., for an idea?

Esto representaría una situación en donde una persona puede sacrificar su vida por su país, ejemplo,  por una idea?

M. L.: Psychology explains that this is merely an egoistical desire to express oneself, to assert one’s “I.” Love for your country, for your party and for anything else is no more than an egoistical self-assertion.

La psicología explica que esto es un mero deseo egoísta de expresarse a si mismo, de afirmar el “yo”.  Amor por su país, por su partido y por cualquier cosa no es mas que una afirmación egoísta de si mismo.

Y. L.: Are there any spiritual obligations that a husband has to his wife and vice versa?

Hay alguna obligación espiritual que un esposo tenga hacia su esposa y viceversa?

M. L.: If we speak about true love, then spiritual obligations are bound to exist. They determine all the rest.

Si hablamos de amor verdadero, entonces la obligación espiritual esta determinado a existir. Ellos determina todo el resto.

However, no obligations and oaths will help. People cannot restrain themselves unless they have a common binding Supreme ideal that stands above this life.

Sin embargo, ninguna obligación ni ningún juramento ayudará.  La gente no pueden restringirse a si mismos a menos que ellos tengan un nexo supremo ideal en común que permanezca sobre esta vida

This explains a leap in the number of divorces in the world, because all history is a gradual yet continuous development of egoism that in our time grows hyperbolically and defies all limitations.

Esto explica el salto en el número de divorcios en el mundo, porque toda historia es un desarrollo continuo, gradual de egoísmo que en nuestro tiempo crece hiperbólicamente y desafía  todas las limitaciones.

People today do not want to feel constrained. They want to move freely around the world, use the internet, and enter hyperspace. They do not need permanent relationships. They wish to satisfy their momentary desires and do not tolerate pressure and restrictions. This is what today's egoism is like.

Las personas hoy no quieren sentirse constreñidas. Ellos quieren moverse libremente alrededor del mundo, usar el Internet y entrar al hiperespacio.  Ellos no necesitan relaciones permanentes.  Ellos desean satisfacer sus deseos momentáneos y no tolerar presiones ni restricciones.  Esto es como se ve el egoísmo hoy.

Therefore, the institution of marriage cannot be kept by moralizing, let alone by force. Everyone understands how useless and pointless this is.

Sin embargo, la institución del matrimonio no puede ser retenida por la moralización, por la fuerza.  Todos entienden que inútil  y sin fundamento es esto.

Man has drastically changed within the past hundred years! He is unable to accept someone's pressure today. He can work only if he realizes some Supreme goal. There will be no institution of marriage at the material, animate, instinctive level of our existence today. Technological development will make it possible to create and raise children artificially, like in horror movies. It will be possible to pay people for meeting each other and making a baby. This is the future of humanity. Every woman will procreate for a certain payment or in exchange for special conditions. Otherwise she would not give birth.

El hombre ha cambiado drásticamente en los últimos 100 años!  No es capaz de aceptar la presión de alguien hoy.  El puede trabajar solo si logra una meta suprema.  No habrá ninguna institución del matrimonio material, animado a nivel instintivo de nuestra existencia hoy.  El desarrollo tecnológico  hará posible crear y criar niños artificialmente como en una película de horror.  Será posible pagarle a la gente para reunirlos y hacer bebes.  Es el futuro de la humanidad.  Cada mujer procreará por cierta cantidad de pago o en intercambio por condiciones especiales.  De otro modo ella no daría a luz.

Therefore, man will have to realize the law of nature, the spiritual law, above our animate level.

Entonces el hombre tendrá que concientizar la ley de la naturaleza, la ley espiritual, sobre nuestro nivel animado.

M. S.: Can a lesbian woman become a spiritual husband for another woman?

Puede una mujer lesbiana hacerse el esposo espiritual para otra mujer?

M. L.: No, because according to her spiritual root she is a woman and an aberration exists only at her lowest hormonal level.

No, porque de acuerdo a su raíz espiritual, ella es una mujer y la aberración existe solamente en su más bajo nivel hormonal.

Spiritual husband and wife are completely different notions. A spiritual partner is a spirit, a teacher, a higher level with regard to me. This in no way relates to sexual orientation.

El esposo y esposa espiritual son nociones completamente diferentes.  Un socio espiritual es un espíritu, un maestro, un nivel más alto en relación al mío.  Esto no tiene relación con la orientación sexual.

Becoming spiritual partners, so that physical intimacy will at the same time become spiritual is an ideal for every couple. This is a goal to which Kabbalah leads.

Hacerse socios espirituales, de tal forma que la intimidad física se hace también espiritual, es el ideal para cada pareja.  Esta es una meta hacia donde la calaba conduce.

M. S.: Can Kabbalist babies be born in Kabbalists' families?

PUeden los bebes cabalistas nacer en familias cabalistas?

M. L.: No, this is not passed hereditarily as natural abilities, but solely depends on the soul's root and qualities. The soul's root is not connected to the body; it exists in another world.

No.  Esto no se pasa hereditariamente como habilidades naturales, solamente depende de las raíces de su alma y sus cualidades.  La raíz del alma no está conectada al cuerpo, esta existe en otro mundo.

My advice is not to disregard earthly circumstances, stop changing, brightening up, mending them. Stop the moment and turn to Kabbalah. In a little while it will become clear what we need to do in this life. Whatever you do without this method will simply intensifying the mistake.

Mi consejo es no desconectarse de las circunstancias de la tierra  parar de cambiar, brillar, reparar.  Detener el momento y volverse a la cabala.  En poco tiempo se hará claro que necesitamos hacer en esta vida.  Lo que haga sin este método simplemente intensificará los errores.

M. S.: It is written in the Bible: "Thou shalt not commit adultery." What does this mean?

Esta escrito en la Biblia: “no cometerás adulterio”, que quiere decir esto?

M. L.: The Bible speaks only about spiritual processes.

La Biblia habla solamente sobre procesos espirituales

Y. L.: "Thou shalt not commit adultery." This refers to thy neighbor, brother, friend. Is a man permitted to want the wife of a complete stranger?

No cometeràs adulterio, Esto se refiere al vecino, hermano, amigo.  Es un hombre al que se le permite querer a la esposa de un completo extraño?

M. L.: Kabbalah does not deal with man's bodily problems. It refers to the Supreme level where there are forces that control us. Only by ascending there, man can do something. Before that we cannot decide whether to wish or not.

La cabala no trata con los problemas corpóreos del hombre.  Se refiere a nivel Supremo en donde hay fuerzas que nos controlan.  Solamente ascendiendo allí el hombre puede hacer algo.  Antes de eso no podemos decidir que desear o no.

I cannot tell another person: "Do not wish." "I do wish. What can I do? Make me stop wishing." To "stop wishing" means to rise up to the very root, at the level where you will correct yourself and stop wishing. At our corporeal level, where we are totally controlled by nature's laws, we will not be able to realize the demand "stop wishing."

No le puedo decir a otra persona “no desee” .  “Yo deseo. Que puedo hacer? Hágame que pare de desear”.  El  “parar de desear” significa elevarse de la raíz, al nivel en donde usted puede corregirse a si mismo y parar de desear.  A nuestro nivel corpóreo, en donde somos totalmente controlados por las leyes de la naturaleza, no seremos capaces de concientizar la demanda de “parar de desear”.

Ordering a person to "stop wishing" is the same as ordering a cat to "stop wishing" to catch a mouse. This is impossible, because this contradicts nature! A desire comes from above and manifests within man. The next moment I will have another desire. I can suppress it under the threat of punishment, but I will not stop wishing! To stop wishing means to correct oneself. Correction means reaching the level of giving, realization of the forces that control us. Without the knowledge of Kabbalah nothing can be done.

Ordenar a una persona “parar de Desear” es lo mismo que ordenar a un gato “parar de desear” atrapar a un ratón.  Esto es imposible porque contradice a la naturaleza.  Un deseo viene de arriba y se manifiesta dentro del hombre.  Al siguiente momento tendré otro deseo.  Puedo suprimirlo bajo la amenaza del castigo pero no puedo parar de desear!.  Para parar de desear significa corregirse a uno mismo.  La corrección significa alcanzar el nivel de otorgar, concientizar las fuerzas que nos controlan.  Sin el conocimiento de la cabala no se puede hacer nada.

The Bible (Torah) tells us only about what we should attain and correct. Ancient prophets do not demand from us to do something at the earthly level. They perfectly understand that nothing can be done on the earthly level. Our world is the Upper world's creation.

La Biblia (Torah) nos dice solamente sobre lo que deberíamos obtener y corregir.  Los profetas antiguos no demandan de nosotros hacer algo a nivel de la tierra.  Ellos perfectamente entiendes que nada puede ser hecho a nivel de la tierra.  Nuestro mundo es el Mundo Superior de la creación.

We see from our life experience that we can do nothing with ourselves. You can give an oath every day and then forget about it in a moment because we act based on our qualities, which can be changed only from above.

Vemos de nuestra experiencia en la vida que no podemos hacer nada por nosotros mismos.  Usted puede jurar cada día y luego olvidar sobre eso en un momento porque actuamos basado en nuestras cualidades, que pueden ser cambiadas solamente de arriba.

Y. L.: People take the phrases and instructions in the Old Testament literally.

La gente toma las frases e instrucciones del Viejo Testamento literalmente.

M. L.: The Old Testament speaks about the path of a person who ascends to the level of spiritual roots, from matter to the forces that control it. When he realizes and feels these forces, he undergoes metamorphoses called "corrections," and this is what the Old Testament says. Hence the name "Testament" – this task was bequeathed to man to be fulfilled. However, this is possible only if we follow the advice of Kabbalists. They wrote based on their attainment of the Upper world. Therefore, the book is called "Holy Scriptures" – it was given to us from Above, and this is how it should be perceived. We have to ascend to the level of the Bible and its authors. This is what they call upon us to do.

El antiguo testamento habla sobre el camino de una persona que asciende a las raíces de un nivel espiritual a ocuparse de las fuerzas que lo controlan. Cuando concientiza y siente esas fuerzas, se sumerge en una metamorfosis llamada “corrección” y esto es lo que el Antiguo Testamento dice.  De aquí el nombre “Testamento! – Esta tarea fue el legado al hombre para satisfacer.  Sin embargo, esto es posible solamente si seguimos los consejos de los cabalistas.  Ellos escribieron basados en sus logros del mundo superior.  De allí que el libro se llama “sagradas escrituras – fue dado a nosotros de lo Alto, y así es como debe ser percibido.  Debemos ascender al nivel de la Biblia y sus autores.  Esto es lo que ellos nos llaman a hacer.

Do the authors of the Old Testament tell us how to make human life in this world comfortable?! How to live a few decades and "good luck"? They urge us to rise to the level of organic, harmonious, integral interaction and love. This is what the Old Testament calls upon us to do. Its principal law is "Love thy neighbour as thyself." I hope that we will achieve this goal.

Nos dicen los autores del Antiguo Testamento como hace la vida humana confortable en este mundo?  Como vivir unas pocas décadas y “buena suerte”?  Ellos nos urgen a elevarnos al nivel orgánico, armonioso, de interacción integral y amor.  Esto es lo que el Antiguo Testamento nos insta a hacer.  Su ley principal es “amar al prójimo como a sí mismo”  Espero que alcancemos esta meta.
